Cell Painting is a cellular high-content imaging assay used to reveal morphological features of cells from which quantitative data can be extracted. Unbiased compound fingerprints are proving to be tremendously powerful to answer a range of biological questions, in particular within drug discovery. The JUMP-CP consortium (Joint Undertaking for Morphological Profiling-Cell Painting) is a cross industry and academia partnership committed to create a public Cell Painting dataset of over 140,000 genetic and chemical perturbations and establish experimental and computational best practices for image-based profiling. In this presentation we will give an update on progress within the JUMP-CP consortium and describe in more detail how we have begun to leverage the power of Cell Painting within AstraZeneca.
