Dr Ye Htun Oo

Ye is a clinical academic and leads both clinical and research programme on AIH in Birmingham. During his MRC funded PhD, he studied the homing mechanism of regulatory T cells and then isolated GMP Treg as NIHR clinical fellow.

He then secured MRC clinician scientist award to deliver AUTUMN trial and studied the Treg and Th17 balance in the human liver. He is a recipient of Sir Frances Avery Jones award from BSG.

He secured Sir Jules Thorn programme grant in 2018 to deliver GMP Treg therapy in AILD. He become a scientific director for Birmingham Advanced Cell Therapy Facility in 2019. He has active grants with industries on autoimmune liver diseases focusing on mechanistic exploration of disease pathology and drug discovery. Ye and his team lead UK-AIH Immunology consortium and Pro Euro DILI immunology work stream for UK.
