Profile of Prof Aravind Asokan
Dr. Aravind Asokan is Professor and Director of Gene Therapy at Duke University in Durham, North Carolina, USA with appointments in the Departments of Surgery, Molecular Genetics and Microbiology as well as Biomedical Engineering. Originally trained as a pharmaceutical chemist, his lab blends the fields of protein & RNA engineering with molecular virology to enable transformative, new medicines. In particular, his lab is focused on developing innovative synthetic virology platforms based on Adeno-Associated Viruses (AAV) to enable gene therapy and gene editing. He is a founder and board director at StrideBio Inc., and TorqueBio, Inc. and serves as board director at the American Society of Gene and Cell Therapy (ASGCT) as well as on the advisory boards of Ring Therapeutics, Atsena Therapeutics, Kriya Therapeutics and Mammoth Bio.
