Dr Darren Cawkill

Dr. Darren Cawkill is a molecular and cell biologist with a PhD from University of Leeds. Darren spent 18 years at Pfizer, leading pre-clinical biology teams in the fields of protein biochemistry, cell & molecular biology and assay/screen sequence development. Darren has extensive experience of outsourced drug discovery and project leadership, resulting in successful progression of numerous small molecule-based projects spanning a range of target classes to achieve drug discovery milestones. ,Following his time at Pfizer, Darren has been working as a Project Director at Apollo Therapeutics since July 2016. Apollo Therapeutics is a unique venture that enables a small and nimble expert drug discovery team to partner with both academia and industry to translate biomedical science from some of the UK's top universities into industry standard drug discovery programs. Darren’s dual role at Apollo encompasses both scouting of Universities for biological research that is at the right stage for Apollo investment and leading Apollo-funded drug discovery projects through to commercial exit.,
