Dr Dirk Paul

Dirk Paul is the Therapy Area Lead for Cardiovascular, Renal and Metabolism at the Centre for Genomics Research at AstraZeneca. As part of AstraZeneca’s Integrated Genomics Initiative, Dr. Paul is responsible for identifying new therapeutic targets through genomics approaches and uncovering biological mechanisms that can be exploited for medicine development. Before joining AstraZeneca, he was a Group Leader at the Cardiovascular Epidemiology Unit at the University of Cambridge. He trained in human genomics at the Wellcome Sanger Institute and University College London. A strong advocate for academia-industry collaborations, Dr Paul has published 38 articles and received a 2019 Sanofi Innovation Award.
