Dr Steven Shave

From a parallel computing background, Steve started his career deploying scientific codes to massively parallel systems before developing algorithms to tackle new problems in drug discovery. This led to an early-stage career in cheminformatics, working across a range of disease areas, assay technologies, and chemistries. Currently on Secondment from Neil Carragher’s lab at the University of Edinburgh to GSK, Steve works to apply AI/ML and data science techniques to integrate multiomics profiles with the goal of generating more powerful descriptions of compounds, perturbations, and phenotypes. The goal of his current work is interrogation of these rich composite representations to discern mechanism of action and flag treatments likely to fail in the later clinical stages of drug discovery.
