Profile of Melanie Maerken
Dr. Melanie Maerken is a molecular biologist who obtained her PhD at the University of Liverpool where she gained extensive CRISPR experience generating knock-in and knock-out cell lines to study drug resistance mechanisms in acute myeloid leukaemia. During her time as a Postdoctoral Researcher at the Scripps Research Institute in Florida, she developed a model to study tumour heterogeneity in Glioblastoma to understand cellular interactions of distinct genetic subpopulations and to find new therapeutic targets. In her current position as a Technical Specialist at Synthego, Dr. Melanie Maerken assesses incoming projects for their feasibility and alignment with Synthegos platform capabilities, as well as helping customers with the design for their CRISPR projects.
